Accommodation arrangements vary, with younger pupils typically housed in rooms shared by 4 individuals, while sixth formers often have individual or shared rooms.

Each house is meticulously managed, led by a dedicated houseparent and supported by a team of resident matrons, live-in staff, and teaching professionals. Access to the boarding houses is regulated through facial recognition systems, ensuring a secure and controlled environment.

While the majority of boarders remain on campus during whole school weekends, there are opportunities for students to go home during open weekends. Additionally, four exeats are scheduled throughout the year, providing breaks for students, although IB pupils are permitted to remain on campus during the summer exeat, particularly if it coincides with their exam preparations.

Admissions Process: Entering Bryanston School

Admission to Bryanston School has evolved in recent years, particularly since its merger with Knighton House to form a 3-18 school in 2021. At the age of 13, students transition to the senior school from approximately 90 different preparatory schools, including notable institutions like Windlesham House, Walhampton, Port Regis, Dumpton, and Bryanston Prep itself.

The admissions process has shifted away from traditional methods such as ISEB pre-tests and Common Entrance exams. Instead, the school now employs CAT4 tests to assess students’ academic ability and potential. Additionally, Bryanston School organises activity experience days, typically six per year, to interact with prospective pupils on a personal level.

Prospective students can secure places in Years 6, 7, or 8, with the head of admissions recommending early application due to the limited availability of 130 to 135 places annually.

For entry into the sixth form, approximately 40 to 50 new pupils are welcomed each year, including students from local state schools, girls’ schools, and international backgrounds. Requirements include achieving 40 points at GCSE, consistent with the standards for current students, as well as undertaking CAT4 tests and participating in an interview as part of the selection process.
